Building Community Capacity

We believe that those closest to the challenges know the solutions best. That's why we invest millions of dollars in advancing and expanding the work of community partners across the city. From our partnership with Denver Public Schools, which activates young people to become part of the solution early on, to funding climate education work for trusted community messengers, we know that much important climate work happens when we trust our partners, their expertise, and the relationships they've fostered.

Promotoras Climacticas

Denver works with community groups in at-risk neighborhoods. These groups talk to their communities about climate issues. This helps our programs reach the people who need them most.

Climate Champions

We are working with Denver Public Schools to support student-led climate projects. Up to $225,000 is available for projects that improve air quality, use clean energy, or promote climate justice.

Funding Denver's Community Groups

We are investing millions of dollars into our community by offering "Mini Grants" - funding of $10,000-$50,000 - to community-based organizations and nonprofits.

Green Workforce Mini Grant

Up to $49,000 is available for organizations that want to enhance or expand their green workforce training.

Equitable Community Tree Planting Initiative

Trees keep neighborhoods cooler and healthier. Some parts of Denver have far fewer trees than others. So we're funding organizations who can plant trees where they're needed.

Neighborhood Electrification Programs

Denver is partnering with Xcel Energy to demonstrate the feasibility of decommissioning portions of the natural gas system in the future.
