Housing and shelter assistance

If you need housing or shelter, call 211, or visit: findhelp.org

Visit denvergov.org/housing for help finding a home, shelter, or services to keep you in your home, including:

  • Property Tax Relief Program
  • Rent and Utility Help
  • Eviction Help
  • Foreclosure Help
  • Find a Rental Unit or Home

Rental Assistance

Check to see if you qualify for Colorado Emergency Rental Assistance from the State of Colorado. There is assistance available for Coloradans who:

  • Have fallen behind on their rent
  • Meet income limits and other qualifying factors, and
  • Are at risk of eviction or displacement

Energy Assistance

If you’re struggling to pay your heating or electric bills, Energy Outreach Colorado’s Bill Payment Assistance Program can help. Visit their website or call: 1-866-HEAT-HELP (1-866-432-8435)

What's the status of my application?

Did you previously apply for General Assistance (also known as Emergency Assistance)? Applications received on or before October 16, 2025 will still be processed. Please note, due to high volume, it may take 45-60 days for our team to process your application.

 

Language and Disability Access

It is your right to access oral or written language assistance, sign language interpretation, real-time captioning via CART, or disability-related accommodations. To request any of these services at no cost to you, please email DHSADASupport@denvergov.org with three business days’ notice.
