East 8th Avenue Signal Replacement Project

Project Overview

The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI), in collaboration with Flatiron Dragados Constructors, will be making travel and safety improvements at eight intersections along East 8th Avenue at: Grant Street, Logan Street, Washington Street, Clarkson Street, Corona Street, Downing Street, York Street and Josephine Street. Crews will work from east to west, two intersections at a time beginning in April 2025, and are scheduled to wrap up in January 2026.

Intersection upgrades include:

  • replacing the old style, span wire traffic signals with metal mast arm assemblies and larger signal heads placed over every travel lane to increase visibility
  • updating pedestrian crossings
  • adding ADA ramps
  • pouring new concrete curbs and gutters
  • installing new lane striping and signage
  • updating stormwater drainage

Travel Impacts

  • Daily single lane closures on East 8th Avenue at impacted intersections from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Driving speeds will be reduced within the work zone. Please slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and leave plenty of space between vehicles
  • Sidewalk closures and temporary bus stop relocations will be in place along E 8th Avenue
