The existing bridge on S. Dahlia Street over the High Line Canal needs to be replaced. The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) will remove the deteriorating bridge, which was constructed in 1952, and install a large concrete box culvert as part of the Bridge Asset Management Program. The road over the new box culvert will match the existing configuration of one lane in each direction with sidewalks on both sides. The sidewalk on the bridge will be widened to six feet.
Travel Impacts
The S. Dahlia St. Bridge over the High Line Canal will remain closed through the end of September 2025 with vehicular and pedestrian detours in place. The High Line Canal Trail will remain open this week.
Advisory
S. Dahlia St. will be closed to all Northbound traffic at E. Hampden Ave. beginning on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 through September 30, 2025.
During construction, S. Dahlia Street will close between Highline Place and E. Eastman Avenue. Residents will still be able to use S. Dahlia Street to access their homes from either side of the bridge. Through vehicle traffic will be detoured as follows:
The High Line Canal Trail will close just west of S. Dahlia Street. Trail users will detour along the north edge of Mamie D. Eisenhower Park. Vehicle parking along the north edge of the park will be restricted to accommodate the trail detour.
Sidewalks will close on S. Dahlia Street near the bridge. The pedestrian detour uses E. Eastman Avenue, Forrest Street, and the footbridge over the High Line Canal to connect to the High Line Canal Trail to return to Dahlia Street.
S. Dahlia St. will be closed between Highline Pl. and E. Eastman Ave. from June 9th through the end of September.
