Denver Snow Angels

Denver Snow Angels is a Denver Human Rights & Community Partnerships' program to assist community members in Denver who are physically unable to shovel their front sidewalks, including adjacent ADA ramps and bus stops, during the cold winter months. This is a volunteer-based initiative created to connect neighbors with one another and to prevent possible fines for non-compliance with city ordinance(PDF, 418KB).

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible applicants include

  • Must live in the Denver City & County
  • Older adults who are physically unable to shovel
  • Neighbors living with a disability
  • Plus, financially unable to pay for a service.

Do's and dont's

General Information

  • Per city ordinance, Denver requires that property owners clear snow and ice from their sidewalks, including adjacent ADA ramps and bus stops, so that everyone has safe access throughout the city! Please be aware, while we encourage volunteers (Snow Angels) to help with the clearing of front sidewalks and curb cuts in front of homes, as stated in the ordinance, our volunteers with the Denver Snow Angels Program Do Not:

Remove snow in driveways or front steps

Remove down trees/branches on front walks.

  • You will receive an email notification once you submit your application, notifying you that your registration was processed successfully and providing additional information pertaining to a Denver Snow Angels activation. 
  • Follow us on social media at X and Facebook, and/or sign up to our HRCP in Action for up to date alerts and information regarding upcoming activations, important resources, and more!

Community Members Requesting Assistance

  • Please understand that volunteers with the Denver Snow Angels Program are not vetted and that your address will be shared with them. 
  • This is a contactless service and volunteers should not be coming to your front door.

Snow Angels (Volunteers)

  • Please understand that addresses shared with you are confidential, and you are not share them or the link within the Snow Angels email notification that contains that information. 
  • Your application will include a number of declarations you will need to read and mark to certify your understanding and agreement. Please read those carefully.
