Names in Historical Context

HRCP's Office of Storytelling spoke to several Denver historians who provided historical context in relation to the city parks recommended to move forward with the renaming process.

S.R. DeBoer Park

S.R. DeBoer Park located in South Denver was named after Saco Rienk DeBoer (1883-1974) who was one of Denver's most influential landscape architects and early city planners.

La Alma Lincoln Park

La Alma Lincoln Park is located in West Denver, and considered one of Denver's oldest neighborhoods.

Grant Frontier Park

Grant Frontier Park is located in Southwest Denver, along the Platte River. This is the site of the original Montana City, which is one o the very first settlements in Denver's history.

Jefferson Park/ Jefferson Square Park

Jefferson Park was named after Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States and one of the most significant and complex figures in American history.

Pasquinel's Landing Park

Pasquinel's Landing Park is named after a character in author James A. Michener's novel, "Centennial."
