Police Arrest Suspect in 8400 Block E. Colfax Ave. Shooting

Denver – Thursday, June 6, 2024 – Today, the Denver Police Department announces the arrest of an adult male suspect for the shooting that occurred in the 8400 block of E. Colfax Ave. on May 31, 2024.

At approximately 4:47 a.m., on Friday, May 31, 2024, Denver Police officers responded to an alleyway near the 8400 block of E. Colfax Ave. on the report of shots fired in the area. No victim was immediately located, but officers soon learned that a victim was transported by an acquaintance from the location, to an Aurora hospital, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Through the course of the investigation, and with the assistance of witnesses, surveillance video and automated license plate reader data, detectives identified the suspect as Teddy Pittman (DOB: 7/30/79). The findings of the investigation indicate the suspect and victim were engaged in a verbal altercation that escalated to the shooting. On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, Pittman was formally arrested and is now being held for Investigation of Attempted First-Degree Murder. The final determination of charges will be made by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
