Food System Programs and Policies
Food is a human right, and Denver is committed to ensuring every resident has access to healthy food through immediate support today and lasting systemic change for tomorrow.
Food insecurity touches every aspect of our lives, from health and well-being to child development, economic stability, community resilience and overall quality of life. More than 1 in 3 Denver residents experience food insecurity, but the impact of this insecurity is not always visible. Community engagement efforts and ongoing research show that many residents face significant barriers to accessing healthy, nutritious food, particularly in communities that have been historically marginalized, underinvested in and disproportionately affected by systemic inequities.
The programs, policies and resources outlined here are shaped directly by the residents they serve, and they're already changing outcomes across Denver's neighborhoods. Explore what's working, who's leading it and where the work is headed next.
